Birthdays are a big deal in our 2nd grade classroom! We use birthdays as a special opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the birthday boy/girl.
Your child is welcome to bring in something to share on his/her birthday: a book from home, a birthday gift, or a game/activity. Per our school policy, students are not able to bring in food items to share with the class. If your child chooses not to bring anything in, we have plenty of other ways to celebrate the special day in the classroom.
Additionally, we will plan to celebrate students with summer birthdays on their half birthday. This will spread out celebrations throughout the year instead of packing them into an already busy June schedule.
